Randomness is something, isn’t it?

On-This-Week collection starts to grow on me, as each Sunday finds me taking a bit of time to be curious about stuff close to me that’s hidden among gigabytes of photos. Randomness, I call it, while one thing leads to another in a matter of seconds.

Taken in Copenhagen on a memorable trip when we rented a car that did not fit us all in, leaving Casi and Gemi practically riding in the trunk and all of us almost leaving our luggage in the airport lockers, this 5-day trip took us from Munich to Denmark and then back to Berlin for the Roger Waters – The Wall Tour (the first one, held indoor) on the O2 Arena.

Why do I find randomness so appealing? Well, just by looking at the photo, completely forgetting about the Berlin & Waters part of the trip, the title suddenly popped out in my mind. And then, amongst others, there’s Pink Floyd put together in just 5 minutes.

David Gilmour’s concert in the “Saline Royale D’Arc-en-Senans” near Besancon on the 23rd of July is just around the corner.

High Hopes
Pink Floyd, The Division Bell, 1994

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun

Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut

There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide

At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There’s a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we’ve been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever
